How this calculator works
The calculator counts Monday-to-Friday days in the range, including both the start and end date. Public holidays are different in every country and region, so they are not removed: subtract the holidays that apply to you from the result.
Formula
- Business days = days in range − Saturdays − Sundays
- Both the start date and end date are counted
Worked example
The month of March 2026
- Start date
- 2026-03-01
- End date
- 2026-03-31
Result22 business days
Monday to Friday from Sunday, March 1, 2026 through Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Public holidays are not removed.
Things to keep in mind
- Public holidays are not excluded. Subtract any that fall on a weekday in your country.
- Some countries use a Friday-Saturday or Sunday-only weekend; this calculator assumes Saturday and Sunday.
Frequently asked questions
Does this exclude public holidays?
No. Holidays vary by country and region, so the count only removes Saturdays and Sundays. Subtract the weekday holidays that apply to you.
Are the start and end dates included?
Yes, both are counted if they fall on a weekday. Monday to Friday of one week is 5 business days.
How many business days are in a year?
A typical year has 260 to 262 weekdays before holidays. In the United States, 11 federal holidays bring that to about 250 working days.
